Anna Fredrikke Bjerke is a Norwegian director and screenwriter for film and television based in London. She recently served as a screenwriter for Netflix's upcoming MIDTSOMMERNATT, working alongside Sofie Forsman, Tove Forsman, and series creator Per-Olav Sørensen. She is in development with her debut feature film, which is produced by Backscatter Productions.

Her award-winning short films have been selected at BAFTA and Academy Awards qualifying festivals worldwide. Such work has garnered a Vimeo Staff Pick and a Vimeo Best of the Year Award, as well as received praise from Short of the Week, Directors Notes, and NoBudge among others.

She has participated in talent development schemes including Viken Langstrakt, Torino Film Lab, Screen Talent Europe, and Directors UK Inspire, where she was mentored by Dee Koppang O’Leary whom she shadowed on the Disney+ production of RIVALS. She has previously been shortlisted for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Competition.

Dedicated to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the industry, Anna served as an ambassador to FREE THE WORK, a non-profit initiative advocating on behalf of creators from historically underrepresented communities, founded by Alma Har’el. She is an active member of BAFTA Connect, Directors UK, The Director’s Guild of Norway, and The Norwegian Filmmaker Association.

Anna moonlights as a playwright. Her debut stage play, HVORDAN VI LEVER NÅ, was developed with the support of The Norwegian Centre for New Playwriting. She is currently writing her sophomore play, JOMFRULAND. She holds an Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and a Master of Arts in Filmmaking and Gender Studies from New York University.
